Many people think of Burger King only as a delicious place to get a burger the way they want it – and to get it fast! However, this well-known fast food joint is also one that offers scholarship money for college students that is easy to apply to.

Easy to Apply Burger King Scholar Program

Applications are accepted for the Burger King Scholarhip Program from November 15th through January 10th of the following year. There are two different programs offered – one for employees or children of employees of Burger King and then one for those that are non-employee based. Those that do work for Burger King or that have a parent that works for the business can apply in both categorize.

Applications are found online, and they can be easily submitted electronically or they can be printed out and then mailed in. Those that get mailed in must be postmarked by the deadline. When completing the application online, it can be saved for you to complete later on if you aren’t able to get it all done at once.

Burger King Scholarship #1 – Eligibility Criteria – Burger King General Track

This category of the Burger King Scholar Program is open to any legal resident of the USA, Puerto Rico, or Canada. All applicants must be a high school senior, and this includes those that are home schooled. All applicants must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher. All applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time in an accredited college of higher education. This can be a two year or four year school.

Burger King Scholarship #2 – Eligibility Criteria – Employee Based Track

This category of the Burger King Scholar Program is only offered to employees or children of employees of Burger King. All applicants must be a legal resident of the USA, Puerto Rico, or Canada. Applicants must be an employee or the child of an employee of Burger King for at least 6 months prior to applying.
Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA or higher to apply for these scholarship funds. They must be a high school senior or home schooled senior. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll full time in a two or four year accredited school of higher education.

James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship by Burger King

There is also a substantial scholarship offered that you don’t want to overlook. This is the James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship. All applicants have to be a citizen of the USA, Puerto Rico, or Canada. They must have graduated from high school within the last three years or a senior. They must be a freshman that has applied or been accepted for either a two year or four year accredited school at full time status.

The GPA requirement for this scholarship is higher with a required 3.3. Students also need to have taken the ACT and received a 25 score or taken the SAT and scored at least 1,700. All applications have to show how they have participated in leadership roles both in school and in their community. Substantial work experience while in school too is a plus. It can be at Burger King or any other location that the student has worked.

Amount of the Awards for the Scholarship by Burger King

The top scholarship award is $50,000 for the James W. McLamore Whopper Scholarship. Three people will get this award annually. There is one $25,000 award offered, called the King Award. There can be up to four regional winners that will be awarded $5,000. There can also be numerous $1,000 awards based on the funding offered and the number of applicants received for the Burger King Scholar Program.
